I have recently had the misfortune to encounter several Spectres. Though I am certain that you have at the least heard of Spectres and the ever-destroying concept of Oblivion that they serve, details of any specific encounter are valuable. Consider this two case studies of creatures lost to the darkness of their Shadows.
The first encounter that dark day was with a gang of Spectres with the corpora of children. I fear they may have been the wraiths of several children killed most terribly. I have hypothesized that the strength of evil in a Wraith's life or death leads to a strength of Shadow in them when they cross the shroud. A particularly horrid death, combined with the immature consciousness of a child, is likely what caused their Fall. They operated as a pack, attacking a single wraith they caught in an alley. When my circle and I arrived and managed to isolate one of them and retrieve their target, the others scattered. Before that, distressingly, they seemed to manifest an ability to communicate with the Shadows of my Circle. Most of them escaped, save for the one who was discorporated by my circle.
Later, we encountered a Spectre capable of astounding feats of Moliation. Few people concern themselves with the fine details of a Spectre's abilities, but this one at least maintained access to Arcanos. It assumed the form of a known Renegade and somehow managed to infiltrate a Legion barracks as a member of that legion to fulfill its trickery. In physical confrontation, it was not particularly able to defend itself, save for some kind of plasmic creature that guarded the book we were sent to retrieve.
Unfortunately I can draw no real conclusions about Spectre-kind from these cases save one. They seem to have an incredible amount of diversity. Unfortunately the situations of both encounters prevented us from recovering one of the Spectres for possible Castigation. Whether or not such a thing is possible is at the cutting edge of my craft.
I hope that you find this entry useful to your existence, Dear Reader,
